All Hallow's Eve 2022

It is that time of the year again - the event known as All Hallow's Eve. It is around this day that magic is most powerful. Those with magical afflictions start showing signs of new abilities, and spirits wreak havoc on their surroundings. Phenomena appear in the week leading up to this day causing the people of Moren Ezen to be on edge. Some choose to stay close to their villages, while others pursue to uncover the mysteries behind their abilities or the mischievous spirits.

Event Prompts

Each Players first Prompt submission will return with a Hallow's Eve Companion of Choice (Shadowcat Cub, Hyena or Blood Parrot).

Each entry will receive a loot roll of three Hallow’s Eve items.

Requirements:

Entries are rolled per rider and horse pair. Up to 3 pairs may be depicted per entry.
Images must depict at least 75 % of both rider and horse and must be coloured.
The image must have a background. Shading is optional. Greyscale is allowed (e.g. no linework only/sketched entries).
Literature entries require a minimum of 1,000 words.
Collaborations must clearly state who did which parts. One entry may contain up to 3 collaborators. Additional characters and horses may be depicted, but will not count for rolls or ranks.
Literature collaborations require a minimum of 500 words per participant.
If you do not own a horse, you may use a Group Starter.

Riddly Riddles - Once per Rider

On their way home from the celebrations your rider finds themselves lost and unable to gather their bearings no matter how hard they try. Eventually they find a stoat sitting in a clearing, it scampers away revealing parchment where it sat.

Depict your Rider interacting with either the Stoat and the Parchment or Their answer to the riddle.

Hallow's Eve Ensemble - Once Per Rider

To please the spirits, to distract from the chaotic phenomena, and to celebrate the bountiful harvest, some settlements decorate and put up festive stalls. Common sights include the best of this season's harvest, red leaves, bonfires and candles. In light of increasing spirit activity, some have gone out of their way to attend the festivities in costumes; outfits are usually inspired by the season's change, or the more mysterious happenings during this time of the year. Connoisseurs of crafting and sewing are especially popular at this time, for those wishing to dress up their equine partners.

Show your rider (and horse) dressing up for the Hallow's Eve ensemble. Did they sew a costume for themselves, or did they source some berries to crush up for a more bloody and spooky look? Does your rider want to honour the warm colours and show off a new wardrobe for autumn? Do they use props in forms of torches and scary figurines made out of twigs and cloths? Some riders might even try to scare other people in their hallows eve costume.

Remembering the dead - Repeatable

Across Moren Ezen late harvests are hauled inside, last hunts are butchered and smoked in large quantities, and people are generally beginning to hunker down against the coming cold. This year seems especially fraught. The people of Moren Ezen hold a collective breath. After all—this time of year the veil runs thin, and with magic about, well...

A cold, clear moon glows above the heads of townsfolk, city-dwellers, and even the nomadic tribes as they prepare to honor the turning of the seasons. Lost ancestors are commemorated with dancing, feasting, and general merriment; honored with delicate spun-sugar skulls in many parts of the world; though of course details change depending on who one speaks to.

For those who have lost loved ones, reminiscing over old memories can hurt as well as heal. How does your rider cope with the festivities? Do they have a special way of honoring those that came before, such as participating in the end-of-harvest festivities, retelling favorite stories, etcetera?

Depict your rider and their horse remembering someone they knew that has passed away. Do they honor this being they used to know by leaving favorite things around, participating in favorite activities, or retelling favorite stories of them. Or maybe your rider doesn't remember the being fondly and instead dances on their grave, or curse their name?

Mysterious New People - Repeatable

The world is on the move - people have traversed continents and ventured across seas in droves of immeasurable number, all in pursuit of something; of sanctuary, of answers, of profit and power, of perhaps a loved one gone astray. Whatever their incentive, all of these wayfarers share a common condition; they find themselves foreigners in a new and oftentimes strange place.

The people of Moren Ezen approach the annual harvest with a hesitance, preparing tentatively the festivities tradition demands. Yet prepare they do, and while the world continues to brace for whatever comes next, the small sigh of relief the distraction offers is almost palpable throughout the communities. Animosity is soothed by bellies filled, uncertainly drowned in ale. Perhaps, in this temporary state of repose, curiosity might concur people's aversion of one another...

Depict your rider encountering a 'mysterious new person'. This person should not be heavily featured in your characters existing lore, and be of no relation to them. The 'Mysterious People' who admins feel best suit the Moren Ezen world will be granted official Group NPC (Non-Player Character) status, and a rendition of their likeness by the art team will be uploaded to the RidersofME account as reference.

Please only submit character concepts you are prepared to relinquish use of to the group. NPCs are free for all players to use for their character's story advancement. You will be contacted if your character concept is selected, and given a final opportunity to opt out if you no longer wish for your concept to be utilized as an official group NPC. Once an NPC has been uploaded to the group's RidersofME account, the transaction is final. NPCs will not be removed for any reason, and can not be converted to player-owned Riders.

All Entries will receive an All Hallow's Eve Prompt Roll, Entries with Mysterious people who become Official Group NPC's will randomly receive one of the following items:

Small Stat Bundle, Small Tack Bundle, Small Bonus Item Bundle, Breeders Bundle, Consumable Bundle, Companion Bundle

Requirements:

Entries are rolled per rider. Only 1 Rider may be depicted per entry.
Mounts do not need to be depicted.
Images must depict at least 75 % of both your rider and the Mysterious Person they have encountered.
The image must have at least a simple background. Shading is optional. Greyscale is allowed. Clean sketches are allowed.
Literature entries require a minimum of 750 words.
Collaborations are not allowed.
Mysterious Person must be an unknown NPC - They cannot be another players character, or an existing NPC

Spooky Specialties

For the duration of the event every rider may participate in a Specialty entry with a guaranteed success without necessary training beforehand. It might be a good idea to stock up your kesh accounts with various items. They might come in handy in the future.

On top of that, every Specialty entry for the Hallow’s Eve gives you one bonus Hallow’s Eve item on top of your own guaranteed loot roll. Please keep in mind you can send in a Hallow’s Eve Specialty entry for a rider only once for each Specialty, excluding Husbandry.

The usual Specialty rules apply. You can read up on them by clicking on the Specialties and following the link. If you want to participate with multiple of your own riders, you will have to make a separate full body picture with background for each one. Drawing e.g. both of your riders on the same background, will only give one loot roll to one of the riders. Same with literature entries; multiple submissions with different stories are a requirement. Spooky Specialties Do Not have a chance to locate any escaped prize horses from the previous event.

If you are a New Player and have yet to obtain your own horse, you may apply for one from the Adoption Centre. Alternatively you may borrow one of the Group Starters.

Raffles

There will be two raffles this year as a part of our festivities!

One raffle is for promoting the group via journal, poll, status, or even a post on another platform (Twitter, Instagram, toyhouse etc), you may only get 1 ticket for this raffle.

The other raffle is for Participating in the event in some way (Prompts, Spooky Specialties, or Mysterious People), you may only get 1 ticket for this raffle.

Players may only receive 1 prize per raffle.
