HERDING
Herding is a long known profession, stemming from before the cataclysm. Learning to herd animals both domestic and wild can provide a constant and close resource of meat, milk and fibers for nomadic and settled people alike.
In order to participate in herding, a horse must first have a full body, coloured training image with a background OR a 1,400 word story to show that the horse has been properly prepared for their tasks ahead.
All riders may participate in herding, but until initial training is completed there is a significant risk of failure.

A herder looks for a horse with fast reflexes and independent thinking. In the case of an animal stepping away from the herd, the horse should react quickly and lead it back to safety.
Intelligence: If the rider doesn't have Herding as their chosen specialty, the horse's natural abilities will increase the pair's chances of success. If Herding is one of the rider's chosen specialties, it increases the chances of returning with better items.
Agility: The horse's natural agility gives the pair a chance to return with some extra items.

When herding it is both important for the herder to be able to control the herd as well as their instruct their companion animal to control the herd (i.e. their horse or dog). Draw your character instructing their companion to round up the herd or move it somewhere.
The elder herder you have been learning from decides to give you a test to put your new skills to use.
