The Mage Trials
Fear breeds strange beliefs.
As paranoia spreads, the anti-mage movement has begun devising all manner of tests to expose magic users—some rooted in some divulsive semblance of logic, others in purely superstitious nonsense. From the utterly absurd to the shockingly horrific, these so-called "foolproof" methods range from forcing suspected Shifters to eat avocados (believing their 'inner animal' will betray them by reacting to toxins harmless to ordinary humans) to the brutal trial of binding a suspected Water Mage and casting them into the nearest well or river—if they sink, they were innocent; if they float, they are guilty. Consequences vary, but they’re never pleasant.
These trials, designed more to feed the festering misomania than to uncover any real truths, have become something of a spectacle. The rumors spread like wildfire, taking root in city streets, in taverns and townships, and spilling over into the wilds and the metropolitan halls of power alike.
Depict a moment when one of these superstitions is put to the test. Is it in the streets of Mastay, where one accused of being a Shifter is forced to bite into an avocado to prove their innocence? In a remote township, where a suspected Animal Manipulator is set upon by wild beasts to see if they can indeed command them? Or perhaps within the ranks of the Kestran City Guard, where an ambitious young officer seeks to cement their rise in rank with a new and improved method of unmasking magic users?
Does the test fail spectacularly, exposing the absurdity of the belief? Does the accused turn the superstition against their accusers? Or does something wholly unexpected happen, lending just enough credence to keep the superstition alive?
Entries should adhere to the group's PG13 rating.
April Fools
A well-timed prank can be an act of harmless fun—or the spark that ignites a long-standing feud. Whether it’s a clever ruse, an elaborate setup, or a cheeky trick that goes hilariously wrong, someone is about to be the butt of an “April Fools” joke they won’t soon forget.
Depict a moment when a prank unfolds. Is it a lighthearted jest among friends, a test of wit, or an act of cruelty thinly disguised as a joke? Does the prank go off without a hitch, or does it backfire spectacularly? Does the prankee take it in stride, or do they vow to get even?
Entries should feature a second character—whether your own rider, an NPC or another player’s rider. Collaborations are encouraged.
