BECOMING A MAGE
HOW TO BECOME A MAGE
To become a mage your rider must partake in a journey to explore their new abilities.
Complete the prompts below. You may do all the prompts at once, or complete the prompts for your first magic trait (prompts 1-4) and do the prompts for your second trait (prompts 5-7) at a later time.
To get started choose your character's magic trait(s) from the list on the Magic Lore Page. When choosing keep in mind that magic under the manipulation section can only be gained after completing prompts (5-7).
Requirements
Images must depict at least 75 % of the rider and should be coloured. Depicting the rider's horse is optional.
The image must have a simple background at minimum. Shading is optional. Greyscale is allowed (e.g. no linework only/sketched entries).
Literature entries require a minimum of 1,000 words.
Collaborations must clearly state who did which parts. One entry may contain up to 3 collaborators. Additional characters and horses may be depicted, but will not count for the prompts.
Literature collaborations require a minimum of 750 words per participant.
Magic Prompts may not be combined with other activity art (e.g. training, specialties, other prompts etc).

PROMPTS
Prompt 1: I May Be a Mage
You character has realized something isn't right, they can do things they couldn't do before. Was it a sudden realization, or did it become apparent over several scenarios? Is it an exciting curiosity your character is eager to delve into, or a terrifying reality? What were their thoughts on magic prior to this realization? Were they alone when they realized they may be exhibiting signs of magic? Describe what your character has experienced and what their initial thoughts are towards the idea of being a mage.
Prompt 2: Practice Makes Perfect
Magic takes time and dedication to perfect, but in a world still fearful of magic, your character is going to need a safe place to hone their skills. Where do they seek solitude?
Prompt 3: Never Alone
Keeping your newfound ability secret is bound to run into difficulties, and you may choose to share your new skills with a trusted friend or loved one. Has your character shared their secret with anyone? Have they tried to keep it hidden from everyone they know? Have they had any close calls near settlements or towns?
Prompt 4: Full Fledged
Practice pays off and your skills are becoming sharper every day. Show your character using their magic for a practical use, such as hunting, navigation, survival, or gaining advantage of a situation.

Prompt 5: Further Pursuits
All of mankind holds the potential to master two magical traits. Did your character pursue their second trait, actively searching out a new ability? Did it come to them suddenly and unexpectedly? How does your character feel about this new trait? Depict your character discovering their second trait.
Prompt 6: Unknown Limits
Magic's potential is only limited by one's own energy and drive. Show your character working to hone their skills. Do they struggle with their magic or does it come naturally?
Prompt 7: Taking Flight
The road to becoming a well practiced mage is unique for everyone and your character's journey has been no different. How do they feel now about magic compared to when they started? Are they in tune with their abilities, or do they still struggle to become better? Was their journey a short one, or did it take years to make it here? Where do they see themselves going from this point? Depict how your character reflecting on what they've become and the journey it took to get here.
