Horse Branding
Horse rearing in Moren Ezen often involves keeping horses in large, semi-wild herds. In order to prevent theft, the practice of branding is often implemented to identify a herd’s owner. It’s also a way for horses to be recognized later in life as stock from a certain breeder, which can be profitable for them if a branded horse is a noted race winner or particularly good sire/dam.
A faux brand may be placed on a horse at any time through the use of a scar pack, but by rising through the ranks, a rider may register their own brand that will be unique to them and free for that player to use on any of their horses, and cannot be removed. If a horse is sold, the brand remains with them, helping to show origin.
GUIDELINES
A player may only apply their brand to horses they have ownership for.
Brands may be applied to a horse at any stage of life.
Once added, a brand cannot be altered or removed. However, it can be covered by using a scar pack (though this will look suspicious).
Horses can have more than one brand if desired, to show previous ownership.
Each brand must be simple enough to cast in iron, but unique enough to mark ownership. For example, a simple arrow or horseshoe shape will be rejected as it isn’t unique enough, and an intricate skull design or shaded image will be rejected as it would be impossible to realistically create.
A rider must be Journeyman rank or higher to register a brand.
