Sable

A mixing of dark hairs in the horse's coat, sable tends to concentrate along the topline, shoulders, and rump, leaving the underside of the horse unaffected. Sable is a soft edged marking, fading out into the coat. It should have a gradient type effect, especially at it's edges. Unlike Sooty, Sable fades smoothly into the coat and is never textured. It can however, have some distinct shaping that cuts up towards the topline. At the minimum, Sable should be visible on the withers to the croup.

Another unique feature of Sable is that it may express Pangare-like counter shading extending from the topline, typically along the withers and hip. This counter shading should have a cream to silver color. It may not be pure white.
