Cream

All example gradients are a range of acceptable colors, a single base cannot vary to these extremes.

Cream, written as nCr or CrCr, is a dilution gene that restricts pigment from the coat, affecting the main base colours.

The geno code for cream is written as:
nCr or CrCr

CHESTNUT + CREAM

'PALOMINO'

Can range from a very pale 'isabella' cream, to a darker 'chocolate'. The mane and tail will be pale cream to white in colour.

The skin will remain a dark grey or black and the eyes will be amber.

Golden

Chocolate

Isabella

CHESTNUT + DOUBLE CREAM

'CREMELLO'

A very pale coat with white mane and tail, pink skin and blue eyes.

BLACK + CREAM

'SMOKY BLACK'

Smoky black is a faded coat often resembling brown or faded black, making it very difficult to identify visually.

The skin will remain a dark grey or black and the eyes will be amber.

BLACK + DOUBLE CREAM

'SMOKY CREAM'

A pale coat with blue eyes and pink skin. Darker than cremello and perlino with an amber tint to the coat. Legs tend to be darker than the body.

BAY + CREAM

'BUCKSKIN'

Very similar to bay, with a lighter, more golden coat. Very light golden bays can easily be confused with buckskin. This gene does NOT show a dorsal stripe. Wild bay will visually be the same, with the dark leg points restricted to the ankles.

The skin will remain a dark grey or black and the eyes will be amber.

BAY + DOUBLE CREAM

'PERLINO'

A pale coat with blue eyes and pink skin. Darker than cremello, but lighter than smoky cream with a peachy tint to the coat. Legs tend to be darker than the body. Wild bay will visually be the same, with the dark leg points restricted to the ankles.

MEALY + CREAM

'BURNT BUCKSKIN'

Similar to a normal mealy brown, with more golden undertones.

The skin will remain a dark grey or black and the eyes will be amber.

Mealy and double cream will have the same appearance as perlino.
