Brindle

Brindle is a random, non-hereditary mutation that may occur in any breeding. Characterized by a mixing of dark hairs in the coat, brindle forms vertical, broken lines on the body. Brindle may cover the entire body, or it may concentrate over certain areas such as the shoulders or rump. The lines may split or form eyelet shapes, but will never swirl or form other shapes. The brindle streaks will lay beneath all other markings and must always be darker than the base coat. The only exception to this is marl, where the brindle striping may show over the dark spotting.

Brindle may have a slight fade near the underside of the horse.
