All Hallow's Eve 2024

All Hallows' Eve is upon us once more! It is around this day that magic is at its most powerful. Those with the gift will start showing signs of new abilities and magic spirits will be creating trouble for those around them. Odd phenomenon tend to happen most often leading up to this day. Many people in Moren Ezen are on edge and stay close to their villages. Though, there are a few who are tempted to find these mischievous spirits or explore the faint abilities they are starting to gain.

Riddley Riddles

One entry per rider

Tassels and tangles of sordid gold,
I serve as your champion against winter's cold.
But come summer, friend, beware my coils,
For the broiling sun ignites terrible toil.

I am your light in the deep dark of night,
Yet a nightmare unleashed when long days shine bright.
I am the harbinger of fortuity and bane,
My gift and my curse share the same name.

What am I?

Depict your Rider in a scenario that includes what you believe to be the correct answer to the riddle.

Correct answers will receive 1 Prompt Roll & 1 Lootbox

Incorrect answers receive 1 Prompt Roll & 1 Leather Pouch

HINT: The answer to this riddle is specific to the lore of Moren Ezen.

Please play fairly! If you think you have guessed the answer to the riddle, please do not spoil it for others by sharing or discussing it in the Moren Ezen discord. Likewise, please do not ask for assistance from other players.

The Harvest Feast

The evening is cool and clear. Flickering lanterns and roaring bonfires ward off the worst of the fall chill, and casts a cheery golden glow over woven baskets overflowing with vibrantly ripe fruits and vegetables. The air is rich with the scent of generously seasoned roasted meats and potatoes, spiced cider, and freshly baked bread. Laughter and music drift on the breeze as the community gathers for the annual harvest feast in celebration of abundance and unity after many long months of hard work and turmoil.

Yet, even amid the warmth and cheer, darkness ever looms. As the sun dips below the horizon, long shadows crawl from betwixt the trees like twisted, reaching fingers. They writhe restlessly, and as the first stars blink into existence against the dimming twilight sky, one can't help but wonder if is only the wind that stirs them... or something else.

Depict your rider (mounts optional) on All Hallow's Eve. Do they celebrate among the crowd, or are their festivities a more discreet affair? Do they celebrate at all? Do they believe in the rumors' of the rot, and the shadows? Are they afraid?

Hallow's Eve Ensemble

To please the spirits, to distract from the chaotic phenomena, and to celebrate the bountiful harvest, some settlements decorate and put up festive stalls. Common sights include the best of this season's harvest, red leaves, bonfires and candles. In light of increasing spirit activity, some have gone out of their way to attend the festivities in costumes; outfits are usually inspired by the season's change, or the more mysterious happenings during this time of the year. Connoisseurs of crafting and sewing are especially popular at this time, for those wishing to dress up their equine partners.

Show your rider (and horse) dressing up for the Hallow's Eve ensemble. Did they sew a costume for themselves, or did they enlist the assistance of a professional such as Saskia? Does your rider want to honour the warm colours and show off a new wardrobe for autumn, or do they don a more spooky look? Some riders might even try to scare other people in their hallows eve costume.

Spooky Specialties

For the duration of the event every rider may participate in a Specialty entry with a guaranteed success without necessary training beforehand. It might be a good idea to stock up your kesh accounts with various items. They might come in handy in the future.

On top of that, every Specialty entry for the Hallow’s Eve gives you one bonus Hallow’s Eve item on top of your own guaranteed loot roll. Please keep in mind you can send in a Hallow’s Eve Specialty entry for a rider only once for each Specialty, excluding Husbandry.

The usual Specialty rules apply. You can read up on them by clicking on the Specialties and following the link. If you want to participate with multiple of your own riders, you will have to make a separate full body picture with background for each one. Drawing e.g. both of your riders on the same background, will only give one loot roll to one of the riders. Same with literature entries; multiple submissions with different stories are a requirement.

Spooky Specialties Do Not have a chance to locate any escaped prize horses from the previous event.

If you are a New Player and have yet to obtain your own horse, you may apply for one from the Adoption Centre. Alternatively you may borrow one of the Group Starters.
